Tiburon Noise Information

CONSTRUCTION HOURS:
For building, grading, plumbing, electrical, and other permits issued by the Town Building Department

Heavy equipment can be maintained, operated, or serviced from 8 am to 5 pm Monday – Friday only. On site warm-up may begin at 7:30 am.

There are special exceptions to these limitations on construction hours:

Violators are subject to misdemeanor charges.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN DOWNTOWN:

Trucks are prohibited in the downtown area between the hours of 10 pm and 8 am on Saturday, Sunday and holidays, and between 10 pm and 7 am on all other days.  This restriction does not apply to taxicabs, nor does it apply to any vehicle used for collection of refuse or recyclable materials.

Downtown in this ordinance (No. 466 N.S., adopted December 5, 2001) is defined as Main Street, including Ark Row; Juanita Lane; and that portion of Tiburon Blvd. lying east of Beach Road.

GAS-POWERED LEAF BLOWERS:
Current Town ordinance allows use of gas-powered blowers in residential neighborhoods from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday only.   A NEW ORDINANCE, adopted September 18, 2002, will BAN the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and gas-powered hedge trimmers in residential areas altogether; however, electric-powered equipment can be used, effective October 17, 2002, on ANY DAY between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. within these areas.

The new ordinance will still allow the use of gas-powered blowers in commercial areas between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday ONLY.

There is a  90-day grace period (until December 17, 2002).  After that time, a fine of $250 will be levied for failure to comply.

ANIMAL NOISE:
The Town of Tiburon has adopted Marin County animal control regulations in Title 8, Chapters 8.04, 8.08, and 8.12 of the Marin County Code, which prohibits habitual animal noise that unreasonably disturbs the peace.
