RECYCLING INFORMATION

PAYING RESPECT TO OUR ENVIRONMENT

  • What to do with used household batteries? They are considered hazardous waste and should never be tossed in the trash to be dumped in our landfills. Tiburon Town Hall Staff delivers their used batteries to the proper hazardous waste facility and also serves the Tiburon Peninsula as a collection site for used household batteries.

We invite you to drop off your used household batteries
(absolutely no car batteries) and we will include yours with ours at our next delivery.

  • What to do with that "popcorn" & Styrofoam (#6 only) packing material?

    7 March 2000

Please be advised Town Hall no longer serves as a collection site for #6 polystyrene. Unfortunately the recycling center, Win Cup in Court Madera, discontinued its collection service as of March 1, 2000. (The only other collection site is in Redwood City –F P International).

In regards to Styrofoam "peanuts" you may want to contact your local Mail Boxes Etc or Packaging Store and ask if they accept them for re-use.

In the future, it is our recommendation that whenever you purchase an item or order an item from a catalog you specify "NO STYROFOAM" in your packaging – stipulate that they use only environmentally friendly/dissolvable/recyclable cushioning. Whenever you can avoid this product coming into your home you won’t have to worry about where to take it later!

THANKS FOR RECYCLING!
