Do I need a Tiburon Business License?

You will need to obtain a Tiburon business license if any of the following conditions apply to you:
- Your business is located in Tiburon -- either in a commercial location or in your home. This also applies to direct marketers and people conducting business online from their home.
For home-based business, you will also need a Home Occupation Permit (see below).
- Your business is headquartered out of town, but you enter Tiburon to do business. This applies to delivery companies, gardeners and others who enter the town to perform a service for hire.
- You own apartment buildings in Tiburon.
- You are a contractor doing work that does NOT require a building inspection. If you’re unsure whether or not the work you plan to do in Tiburon requires a building permit, please contact the Tiburon Building Division at (415) 435-7380.
- If you’re a general contractor doing work that requires permits in Tiburon, please read the section below titled "If you're a general contractor..."

If you’re a general contractor...
If you are a general contractor doing work that requires permits in Tiburon, you will be charged by the Tiburon Building Division for your business license at the time your permits are pulled. The license fee will cover you, as the General Contractor, as well as your sub-contractors for that specific job. You would not need to complete the forms on this page. Instead, you should contact or visit the Building Division at (415) 435-7380 to obtain your license.
