Meeting Space Rental Fees
The Town charges a nominal fee for the rental
of public facilities like the Community Room at Town Hall (1505
Tiburon Blvd). There is also rental space available at the Belvedere
Community Center at 450 San Rafael Avenue. For more information
or to reserve a room, contact the Joint Recreation Department at
(415) 435-4355. Preference is given to Belvedere-Tiburon residents
and local non-profit or community services organizations.
Event Permits
Special Event Permits are required for any
organized event on public (Town-owned) property. Generally speaking,
most of Tiburon's public parks are just that: public parks, open
to all on a first-come, first-served basis. One exception is the
use of McKegney Green by the Tiburon Peninsula Soccer League. All
other persons must apply for a permit through the Town of Tiburon.

Building Division Permits & Fees
Permits
Excerpt from California Building Code 106:
"No building or structure regulated
by this code shall be erected, constructed, enlarged, altered,
repaired, moved, improved, removed, converted or demolished
unless a permit has first been obtained from the Building Official.
A permit is required for all construction,
electrical, mechanical, plumbing, reroof, drainage, fences,
retaining walls of any height, window replacement, kitchen/bath
remodel, etc.
Playhouses, small, portable storage sheds,
and cosmetic work such as painting and wallpaper, are exempt
and do not require permits."
Fees
The basic fee structure is as noted in
California Building Code, and is based on the valuation of a project.
In addition to the basic permit fee, each permit includes fees
for business license, encroachment, street impact, general plan
maintenance, and storm water runoff impact. When applicable, additional
fees will be charged by the fire district, the water district,
the sanitary district and the school district. When you know the
complete valuation of your project, you may call the building
division for a fee estimate.
Permits are valid for 18 months. If the
work is not complete within the 18 month time period, reactivation
fees may be required. A reactivated permit is valid for six additional
months, and the fees to reactivate increase with each six month
reactivation.
Work Without Permit Penalties
A Stop Work Order will be issued for any
project started without the necessary permits. For minor projects
valued at less than $5,000 the penalty is $250, and increases
to $1,000 plus four times the permit fee for projects valued at
more than $50,000.
If you have any questions regarding the
need for a permit, please call the Building Division rather than
risk a Stop Work Order and penalty fees.
Residential Building Reports (RBR)
Prior to the sale or exchange of any dwelling unit, the owner
shall obtain from the Town a report of the residential building
record showing the regularly authorized use, occupancy and zoning
classification of the property and an itemization of deficiencies
in the dwelling unit.
The fee for a residential building report is $250 for a single
family dwelling. The report should be scheduled as soon as the
property is listed, to avoid last minute complications. The report
will list both advisory and mandatory items and the mandatory
items, which are considered life/safety issues, must be corrected
within 30 days of the close of escrow.
Planning Application Fees
As of March 9, 2007. Fees are required to approve designs for
a variety of construction projects in Tiburon. Planning fees are
generally based on the size of a project and whether a variance
or floor area exception is needed. Applications for site plans and
architectural / Design Reviews are processed by the Tiburon Planning
Division Staff or by the Design Review Board (DRB), depending on
project size and controversy.
Fees for the most commonly-requested Design
Review applications are as follows:

of dwelling units or lots involved, size or level of controversy
for non-residential project, etc.) and the level of environmental
review needed for the project (e.g., an Environmental Impact Report
or a Negative Declaration). Additional fees may be required, or

the application. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Planning

Police Fees
In an effort to recover costs, the Tiburon
Police Department will collect a variety of fees for some of the
different services it provides to our community. These fees supplement
your tax dollars and allow us to provide services like fingerprinting,
obtaining copies of reports, vehicle releases, vehicle identification
certification and other important services. Most fees are paid in
person at the Police Department front office, but some fees, like
fees for obtaining a copy of a police report or clearance letters,
can also be mailed to the Department for payment in advance.
